Removing Windows Hello for Business

This article will explain how to remove Windows Hello for Business (WHfB).

Windows Hello for Business (WHfB) is a security feature in Windows 10 and later that provides a more secure and convenient way for users to sign in to their devices and access resources. Instead of relying on traditional passwords, WHfB uses biometric authentication (like facial recognition or fingerprint scanning) or a PIN.

Removing your Windows Hello PIN or other sign-in options:

1. Right-click on the Start menu and select Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options.

2. For facial/fingertip recognition, simply select it and hit Remove.

3. If you want to remove your PIN, you'll notice the option is grayed out. To remove it, select PIN (Windows Hello), then select I forgot my PIN.

4. It will ask if you're sure, select Continue.

5. On the "Set up a PIN" window, press Cancel.

6. A window pops up asking if you meant to cancel your PIN, select I'll set up a PIN later.

The PIN option has now been removed from your account. You will need to sign in with your password going forward.
