Setting Up a MacBook

Please ensure you follow the steps provided below to successfully enroll and sign into your new MacBook device.


Step 1 — Unbox & Power On

  • Unbox your MacBook and plug in all appropriate cords, then power on the device.
  • When you power on your Mac, you will begin by selecting your country/region.

Step 2 — Choose How to Set Up Your Mac

  • Transfer data from another Mac, a Time Machine backup, or a startup disk.
  • Transfer data from a Windows PC.
  • Set up with an iPhone or iPad.
  • Set up as a new Mac.

Step 3 — Configure Accessibility Features

  • In this section, you can choose accessibility options for vision, hearing, mobility, speech, and cognition, or click "Not Now" to skip and set up later.

Step 4 — Connect to a Wi-Fi Network

  • Choose your Wi-Fi network, (NOT Davey Wireless) and enter the password, if necessary. If you’re using Ethernet, you can also click "Other Network options" and follow the onscreen instructions.

Step 5 — Enroll in Device Management

  • To continue, you will need to enroll your Mac into Davey's Device Management.
  • Start by clicking "Enroll."
  • Sign in using your Davey email address and password.
  • Be prepared to approve a Duo prompt.

Step 6 — Create a Mac Account

  • You will first need to create a Mac Account to be able to sign into the Mac.
  • You will need to enter your name and create a password.
  • This CANNOT be the same as your Apple ID Account password.

Step 7 — Sign Into Your Apple Account

  • If you already have another Apple device, you likely have an Apple Account. 
  • Sign in using the email address or phone number and password. If you don’t have an Apple Account, you can create one.

Step 8 — Complete Setup Assistant

  • When your accounts are set up, follow the on-screen instructions to customize settings like Apple Intelligence, Siri, Touch ID, etc.

Step 9 — Install Davey Applications

  • You can now finish setting up your Mac for daily use by installing applications from the Self-Service Client.
